Matt and I moved a 6' cabinet from the backyard into the house to use as a toy storage unit. We were in the process of making of more stable when Jayden decided to pull on the door causing the whole thing to topple on him. I didn't realize at the time, but I ripped the door off the unit and threw the whole cabinet a few feet away. Looking back, I don't know how I did it considering I struggled with the help of Matt just to get the piece into the house. A mom will move mountains for her child.

He was such a trooper and hiked uphill for almost a mile all by himself. He let us know that he was done hiking by sitting down and refusing to get up.

I love, love, love the beach. Flipping sand everywhere, stomping on castles built by papa, daddy and mommy, and dumping an endless supply of water. What could be better than that? Maybe if I could do it all without the silly hat and sand trap of a diaper. That would be perfect.

Jayden's July Birthday

Jayden gets two birthdays every year. His normal February birthday and his July birthday when Papa and Grandma Thomas visit. They gave him a picture book with his uncles and aunts from Utah. Now when we visit, they will not be complete strangers to Jayden. He also got a pair of shiny red boots. Take a look at the video clip to see how much he loves his new shoes.

I opened my door this morning to this! It was such a beautiful sight. The bird sat there for over four hours responding back and forth with the kids. There was a lot of squawking going on this morning.

He insists on feeding himself, which I am proud that he wants to learn new things. It's the cleaning up afterwards that is exhausting. Besides getting his meals in his hair and up his nose, I have found food smeared across the dishwasher and under the toe kick of the cabinets. It feels like I have to clean the entire kitchen after each meal. I sure hope he is a quick learner.

We celebrated Easter one week early with part of the family. Jayden caught on to the whole idea of picking up the eggs and putting them into his basket. The only problem was that he kept 'finding' the eggs in his basket that he would remove and then put back in. He was also much more interested in shaking the eggs he had in his hands than looking for more.

At first he wasn't sure of the bib since I never need to use one. After he got over the bib, he did a fanstatic job by just sitting there and made not one peep. He did attempt to watch the whole process, but soon gave up and played with his truck.

He has been caught carrying shoes that weigh more than he does. He is also seen with cell phones, remote controls, and on one occasion an entire box (102 count) of diapers....which he used to climb on to get to more items from the changing table. He is bold, sneaky and will attack with absolute silence. You have been warned.

Jayden decided he was ready to walk Christmas morning. He has not stopped since. Matt loves chasing him around the house. You can tell Jayden is running when he walks his normal speed, but puts his arms straight up in the air.

Jayden has four teeth now and when he smiles, I can't help but laugh because he looks like that guy Woody who plays in Cheers.

Rock N Roll Marathon

We started out strong, but at mile 6 during a stop at the water table we were separated. I continued on hoping that we would cross paths. Matt ran back and forth between mile 6 and 13 looking for me. At the halfway point, Matt showed random people a picture of me from the camera and someone recognized me and said that I had just ran by. Matt sprinted on trying to catch me. With all my nutrient packs with Matt, I ran on water alone. Finally we found each other at mile 23 and were able to finish the marathon together.

How It All Started

I moved into 'The Ronda House' shortly after Christmas in 2005. Matt was out of town visiting family for the holidays and returned to find a new roommate. Matt invited me to a New Year's Eve party and on the way there he starting talking about running a marathon in honor of his dear friend, Angel, who was dying of breast cancer. I mentioned that I always wanted to run a marathon and we started training for the Rock N Roll Marathon of San Diego. After many long runs together; therefore many long talks together, we went on our first date. It was Madri Gras in the Gaslamp downtown on Feb. 28, 2006. Within the next seven months we managed to buy a house and get married. Almost two years after our first date, we welcomed Jayden Jacob Thomas to our family. Things are good.
